McKinney-Vento Act:
This federal law requires every school district to have a local liaison to identify and support homeless students. 
 
Student Services Provided:
These programs offer a range of support, including:
    • Enrollment Assistance: Ensuring immediate enrollment while waiting on required paperwork like birth certificates or immunization records. 
    • School of Origin Support: Allowing students to remain in their preferred school if it's in their best interest, with transportation provided. 
    • Academic and Social Support: Providing tutoring, mentoring, school supplies, and access to extracurricular activities. 
    • Referrals: Connecting students and families with community resources for housing, food, and other essential services. 
 
PATH Homeless Program:
Offers short-term case management and linkage assistance to individuals with mental illness experiencing homelessness. 
 
Neighborhood House Shelter and Woman Haven Shelter:
Provide emergency shelter, food, and case management services for women and children experiencing homelessness. 
 
Imperial Valley Housing Authority (IVHA):
Administers the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program and owns public housing units, offering a range of housing options for low-income individuals and families.
